I'd get some good photos of all of the areas you describe, and observe for anything else that could be relevant, such as itching, presence of pus, bleeding, etc.I'd collect samples of loose scabs, exudate,and hair in a ziplock bag and then take that and the photos along to show to the vet, rather than dealing with the aggression between the horses.This should provide enough information for the vet to determine what should come next.
